Jack Smith is the American hero who was charged with investigating a range of charges against Trump, any one of which could have landed him in jail. And would have landed Trump in jail, had he not been reelected.
Senator Eric Schmitt of Missouri is the guy that some stupid people say would be a great VP for JD Vance. And Schmitt figured he'd get even more stupid people on board by embracing their utterly insane conspiracy theories about Jack Smith. And when Senate Republicans forced Smith to come in to testify, Schmitt figured he had his chance.
"So your testimony today is that you did not go to a Hawks game on Feb. 3, 2024. Is that correct? What would you say if I had a series of text messages from your team that said you were in Atlanta at a Warrior-Hawks game on February 3rd, 2024?"
Apparently, if Smith had been at that Hawks game in Atlanta, it would have proven a huge conspiracy, because reasons. That one thing was the pedastal upon which this whole thing sat. And when always sharp Senator Amy Klobuchar connected the dots, and realized Smith had been at the Iowa Hawkeyes game in Maryland.
But instead of apologizing, and admitting he had mixed them up, Schmitt decided to act like the world's biggest jerk, and just rant and rave, and yell at Klobuchar, and tell Smith he was a "dirt bag" and he'd already perjured himself, and all kinds of crap.
Basically, he acted like Trump, with a series of lies and threats and nonsense flung out into the audience, like a monkey at the zoo hurling feces.
We may have become used to this kind of behavior, but there is no way in hell we should let it become normalized. A US senator spewing lies and threatening fellow Americans is far over the line. Enough of this crap -- Schmitt needs to resign NOW.
