We, the fans, believe that Gary Bettman is unfit to continue his post as NHL Commissioner. We believe that during the course of his employment, he has not acted in the best interest of the league as a whole, including but not limited to the teams, the players, and especially the fans. In fact, we believe his actions have served to significantly harm the reputation of the NHL and the game of hockey.
While league revenues have increased under his reign, we recognize that ultimately fans are responsible for the continued financial success of the National Hockey League. Should Mr. Bettman be allowed to continue his position with the league, the undersigned will refuse to put another dollar toward the organization. It's time to take the game out of the hands of corrupt bureaucrats and put it back in the hands of the fans who foot the bill.
In other words: the NHL won't get another penny from those who sign this petition unless they fire or force the resignation of the most universally hated man in the history of the game.
Finally, if we have to endure a lockout for the 2012/2013 hockey season - which would be the third lockout in 18 years thanks to Gary Bettman - be prepared for public protests.
THE FANS UNITED WILL NEVER BE DEFEATED.
(We do recognize that Gary Bettman is not solely responsible for the entirety of the problems within the NHL, however his actions and decisions are highly questionable and need to be addressed at the very least.)
