This practice violates the rights of service members, subjects them to intimidation from their peers and those of superior rank.

It also encourages those of different faiths (particularly muslims) to join terrorists groups such as ISIL. This is particularly so when troops working with civilians in other countries are proselytized and reinforces propaganda that the US forces are simply an extension of the Crusades.
