Buried deep in Trump's catastrophic reconciliation bill is a ten-year ban on regulating AI technologies, snuck in there by lobbyists for the tech industry who are desperate to force AI into every aspect of our lives and make their investments profitable, no matter the cost.
AI tech has already proven itself to be a huge drain on community power grids, a source of outrageous amounts of pollution, and wholly unreliable. On top of that, it's responsible for a crisis in cheating in American academia and is fueling countless cases of "ChatGPT-induced psychosis" in users.
We NEED to be able to regulate these untested and untried technologies, and by the time ten years have passed, the damage AI can do will be irreversible. The Senate MUST strip this appalling ban from Trump's reconciliation bill before it's too late.
