Stand in Support of Tobacco-Free Parks & Public Grounds

• Children model adult behavior and tobacco-free/e-cig policies can help change the perception that using tobacco or e-cigs is an acceptable or desirable behavior.
• Consistent tobacco use policies at schools, parks, municipal grounds and other settings are important, for creating healthy environments and encouraging healthy behavior in children.
• Discarded cigarette butts pollute our parks and other public areas; pose a fire hazard; and pose a risk of ingestion by toddlers and animals.
• The Surgeon General and Center for Disease Control (CDC) has repeatedly warned that there is no safe level of second-hand smoke exposure. There is also no strong evidence that e-cigarettes are not harmful to a person’s long-term health.
