Whether I align with the NDP or not (as it happens, I do) I don't like being tricked into joining a political party and also making my email available to the constant stream of drivel that all political parties like to shovel into our inbox.

when you sign up for a CARE2 petition you are also signing up for the NDP's email list. When you click 'unsubscribe' you receive a message saying your details have been kept on file.

It's fine to link the petitions to the party, but it should be made clear up front that by signing the petition you are also signing up!
