No conscription UK. Solve crime issues by strengthening police force.

In HK there's no military so obviously no conscription. It's the 9th safest city in the whole world rated by the Economist.

It's proof that (unlike conscriptionists suggest) conscription is not the answer to solving crime problems. Society can have an extremely low crime rate without it. Lower than those who do. If we strengthen the British police force crime rates will drop.

People commit crimes because they think they will get away with it. With a stronger police force people are less likely to believe they will get away with crime.

HK has an average of 462 police officers per 100,000 of the population. In 2017 the U.K. had 302. In HK they are also physically fit and have guns. Their better staffing and formidable nature makes them feared and respected. This deters criminals and makes them better at enforcing laws.

In the U.K. approximately 90% of violent crimes cases are unsolved so that means 90% of those criminals get away with it! Maybe more if it's gang crime. I think that's a more likely explanation than lack of conscription considering that a journalist knew conscripted people. None of the ones he knew turned out any better and one became a drug dealer. They all hated it. If society had spent the wasteful money spent on conscription on improving their police force then maybe that would be more effective.

Conscription is an attack on freedom and basically slavery. Anyone who cares about personal liberties should oppose it.
