Should Marching Band be Considered a Sport?
This is a controversial topic that has been debated upon for many years. I am a flute player and I am one of the members of the Powdersville Patriot Marching Band and I am tired of football players, cheerleaders, and other various athletic organizations telling us that we are not a sport we are a “extracurricular activity”. Let’s start out by defining the definition of a sport and see if Marching Band will fit under this category. Then, I will tell you exactly what marching band is, and tell you why it is so difficult and last I will tie it all together by telling you why the marching band deserves your respect
A sport as defined by the World English Dictionary as “an individual or group activity pursued for exercise or pleasure, often involving the testing of physical capabilities and taking the form of a type of competition”
