Demand Middle schoolers deserve to be safe

My 12 year old started Middle School this year. And when she ended school last year in elementary she was still 12 years old. But for some reason now that she's in middle school, which is literally across the street from the elementary school, I'm being told that my child safety is no longer concerned because she should be able to walk to school because we live within a 2-mile radius of the Middle School. I know as a single parent I work a full week and there are hours that I cannot be there to pick her up in the afternoon so unfortunately I have to try and find alternative means for my child to get home safely. Because I refuse to let her walk through a neighborhood that I am un whether or not there's a pedophile that lives on the street order a murderer because it is within a 2 mile radius so they have the ability to still live with in that vicinity and not have to worry about "living beside the school." I know that I am not the only single parent out in the Middle School area that does not have a significant other or an alternative form of being able to have transportation for my child and we were relying on the school bus from the Fort Worth ISD to be the means of transportation of safety to and from the school but now we're scrambling around trying to figure out what we're supposed to do because we know we have to work.
