Ban Fur Farming in Finland

Finnish animal rights organisation Oikeutta Elaimille released a new investigation which includes about 80 Finnish fur farms.

The research group visited 80 fur farms between spring and winter 2010. The material is shocking: foxes without legs, puppies eating dead puppies, huge open wounds, injuries, stereotypical behavior, cannibalism, animals not able to walk, hundreds of animals with bad eye infections, gum infections, half rotten animals with worms left in cages with alive ones, etc. This investigation is the most comprehensive insight into the Finnish fur industry ever made.

Over 30 % of the investigated farms are certified. Certification is a system made up by farmers themselves to better their image and they claim this guarantees animal welfare. However, these farms had the exact same problems as all the others, if not worse. One certified farm was visited three times during three months, and the same sick animals with very bad gum infections were found each time, untreated.

In Finland approximately three million animals are killed annually at fur farms. The footage shows the everyday life of these animals. It is time to ban fur farming in Finland and put an end to this suffering. Look at the videos and pictures and demand the ban!
