St Joseph's Nursery has been running for 30 years, with a long generation of catholic and local families bringing their children, and then their children's children to be nurtured there. In 2010 the Nursery was awarded an Outstanding by Offsted
"The nursery knows its strengths and how to maintain excellent standards of care and education, through a highly effective system of self assessment, robust child assessment, the planning of a wide range of suitable and appropriate activities and the systematic recording and monitoring of the children's progress"
The staff have over 15 years experience each of providing excellent Early Years care with a passion that children learn through play. There is an extremely low staff turnover, allowing family's trust and confidence that their children are receiving the best possible care and education.
On the 25th February 2015 The Chair of Governors Steve McGrath, has given notice to terminate the tenancy for the Nursery by August 2015- with the announcement that they will then open a governor run school nursery.
There is no guarantee that the children who will still be at nursery age in September will have a place in this nursery. There is no confirmed date that the school nursery will open. There will be no place for two year old provision. It is questionable whether the school can provide the flexibility that the current nursery offers parents, allowing family's to return to work.
I do not recognise any positive outcomes this move will have on the Community, Familys and most importantly the children. The school will lose its best asset, a team of excellent Early Years professionals which have nurtured their preschoolers for many generations.
Please sign my petition to allow the current nursery to continue their excellent work with children and their community. Thankyou for your time.
