Support Equal Pay for Women: Override Gov. Chris Christie's Veto!

It is time that men and women get equal pay for equal work.

The median annual earnings for a woman working full-time in the United States is $39,621. A man's average earnings for full-time employment? $50,383 per year.

That is almost an $11,000 gap per year due to a person's gender. That gap is even greater in the state of New Jersey, where a man's average annual salary for full-time employment is $60,870, and a woman's is $48,943.

The New Jersey legislature's S992 would have prevented employers from paying women less than men for "substantially similar" work. However, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie chose to veto the equal pay bill stating: "this is nonsensical and makes New Jersey very business unfriendly".

Governor Chris Christie had a chance to protect equal pay for women, and he shot it down. Now we need to make sure that his veto doesn't stand so that other states know that paying women less is absolutely unacceptable.

Equal pay is long overdue. Please sign and tell the New Jersey General Assembly to override Gov. Chris Christie's veto of the Fair Pay Bill!
Dear decision maker,

It is time that women get equal pay for equal work.

For the sake of hard working women across the nation, I strongly urge you to override Chris Christie's veto of S992, the Fair Pay Bill.

The wage gap between men and women in New Jersey is $12,000. There is no good reason for women to be paid less than men for doing the same amount of work.
