Tell the California State Fair: Stop Using Animals for Entertainment!

Two years ago, a scared, pregnant Holstein cow escaped from the nursery exhibit at the California State Fair. Fair police used unnecessary force in chasing her down and shooting her 11 times, killing her and her unborn calf.
State Fairs are loud, crowded and are very stressful environments. Animals at these fairs live uncomfortable, unnatural lives and there's also a great risk of physical danger and disease to humans.
Despite all the evidence against the use of animals at state fairs, and overwhelming public opposition, California's State Fair Board continues to allow rodeos, live birth exhibits, petting zoos, pony rides, and giving live goldfish as prizes.
There is ample non-animal entertainment available for visitors to enjoy. Urge the State Fair Board of Directors to immediately discontinue all use of animals at the California State Fair.
Dear Director Willie Pelote Sr.,
As someone who cares about animals, I am writing to urge you to eliminate the use of animals at the California State Fair. Including, but not limited to: rodeos, live birth exhibits, petting zoos, pony rides, and goldfish as prizes. The State Fair is too stressful of an environment for these animals, and there is ample non-animal entertainment available for visitors to enjoy.
