The World is Appalled by China's Horrendous Animal Cruelty and Environmental Devastation. We Pledge to Boycott China and Chinese Products Until Better Laws Are Introduced to Protect Animals!!!!

According to Wikipedia, anywhere ranging from 10-20 million dogs are slaughtered each year, in China, for their meat. It is estimated that China are also responsible for slaughtering four million cats for their meat each year. That's tragic and wrong as it is, but many of these animals are also slaughtered using very barbaric methods, as it is believed that the more a dog suffers, the better the meat will taste. Add to that the fact that China have some of the worst anti-animal cruelty laws in the world; there are no laws that explicitly ban animal cruelty, only laws to "protect" certain animals, such as those abused in research, animals in zoos and iconic endangered Chinese wildlife like the Giant Panda.
Dogs and cats are often brutally beaten to death and/or tossed alive into boiling water to "prepare" them for being eaten. Unlike South Korea, China has no dog meat farms, so many of the dogs who are brutally slaughtered and eaten are beloved companion dogs kidnapped off the streets. The Yulin Dog Meat and Lychee Festival is renowned across the western world, and in Asia, for its cruelty. The dog meat trade, however, goes on year-round and nationwide in China, not just at Yulin during the festival. Another underrepresented issue with Yulin is the fact that around 4,000 cats are also slaughtered at Yulin.
There's also the very disturbing business of fur farming in China, which often sees animals like raccoons, foxes, mink, rabbits, racoon dogs, dogs, cats and others inhumanely bred and forced to live in absolute squalor in cruel cages, only to be beaten, gassed, strangled, electrocuted , hanged and bled to death. How can they do such disgusting and despicable things to innocent, sentient beings? These animals, in some ways, are more innocent than children, and yet they subject them to unspeakable abuse that they don't even subject mass murderers and rapists to (I am not, in any way, in favour of doing such things to mass murderers or rapists, absolutely not. I'm against the death penalty, and they still have a right to be cared for and have the best possible lives in jail.)
Whereas other countries and places have outlawed animal testing for cosmetics, China require all cosmetic products that are sold there to be tested on animals first. Do the people in charge in China really want to make sure that every animal and beautiful place that they can make money out of is exploited, abused, tortured and killed? That would make China look like a money-grabbing, selfish and disturbingly violent and cruel country, tarnishing China's global reputation (as if COVID-19 hasn't already done that enough!)
Bear bile is another disgusting and disturbingly cruel practice, which sees poor moon bears confined to cages and drained of their bile, for the bile to be used in Chinese medicine. China were even thinking about using bear bile to cure COVID-19!!! We HAVE to stop this!!!
There is also much animal cruelty and suffering in zoos, safari parks, circuses and other attractions in China. Wild animals are kept in cages. Animals like elephants are kept chained for life. Frightened cows, chickens, donkeys and pigs are also dropped in enclosures with starving tigers and lions, for them to be attacked, for the "entertainment" of crowds. Some animals get injured and even self-mutilate due to frustration, and their injuries are often left untreated. Animals like lions, tigers and bears (oh my!) who are abused by circuses also have their teeth and claws ripped out. The animals may also be kicked and otherwise abused. The cubs of lions, tigers and bears (oh my!) and other animals are also often snatched from their mothers when they're really young in order for them to be hand-reared, to make them easier to "break". They may also be forced to do photo shoots with people, the lights hurting their sensitive eyes. These babies should not be forced to do this and abused by circuses, zoos or in the horrific bear bile business; they should be with their mothers, either in the wild or at proper, good sanctuaries.
Let's also not forget that the global pandemic we're in now is believed to have started at a Wuhan wet market, where animals such as foxes, wolf pups, bats and endangered pangolins were being sold to be eaten. We CANNOT risk another pandemic!!! We CANNOT allow more animal cruelty!!! We need to outlaw these awful wet markets (along with factory farming) worldwide RIGHT NOW!!!!
Also, are we going to just let China cause rhinos to go extinct, just for their horns? No way! 500,000 rhinos once roamed free in the wild. Now, only 27,000 remain. In Africa, criminals killed over 900 rhinos in 2018, with 2.4 of these herbivorous giants killed every single day of that year. White rhinos number in at only 18,000 today. While the rhinos are killed illegally in Africa, China are the main culprit as they buy a lot of rhino horn for use in traditional Chinese medicine. We need these rhinos far more than China needs its faux "medicine". There is probably scant scientific evidence for these "medicines" actually working. They say it's "cultural", but nothing, not even culture or tradition can justify such cruelty. There are other Chinese folk remedies and medicines that don't use animal ingredients, and some of these may even work better than the medicines derived from rhinos, pangolins, tigers, etc. We need to get ALL use of animal-derived ingredients in Chinese medicine outlawed RIGHT NOW. If Africa can protect rhinos as seriously as they do, China can ban and crack down on the trades in rhino horn, tiger parts, bear bile and other animal-derived "medicines" and "ingredients" in medicines. If you wouldn't accept it being done to a human in the name of culture or tradition, you should never accept it being done to any being of any species.
China should also pass strict laws protecting pangolins as the endangered species they are. These cute, scaled creatures are being trafficked and eaten into extinction!!!
China are also ruining our environment, polluting our poor planet to the point where, combined with all the other pollution, our poor planet may eventually become uninhabitable. China, once home to lush temperate forests, natural land and many giant pandas, red pandas, bamboo rats, raccoon dogs, monkeys, tigers, clouded leopards, alligators, North-Chinese leopards, water deer, gazelles and other wonderful native animals, is now among the most polluted countries on our poor Earth, if not the most polluted. China is too obsessed with material gain and monetary gain, a far cry from the teachings of compassion, non-attachment to material possessions and respect and kindness to all in Buddhism, a big spiritual philosophy in China. It is time to act on those values and act to protect all the animals and our planet!!! We won't let you ruin our planet, China!!! The animal cruelty also has to stop NOW!!!!!
We, the Undersigned, pledge to boycott China and ALL Chinese products until China improve their treatment and protection of animals, reduce their pollution and destruction to our planet and act to save animals and the planet!!!!
On a side note, please, no racism or prejudice against Chinese people. They are not all animal abusers. In fact, the tide is turning and more Chinese people than ever before (in recent history) are against animal cruelty and have their own beloved animals. Some Chinese people also campaign against the dog and cat meat trades and rescue animals. Some Chinese people are as against the horrendous animal cruelty as you are, if not more. Some also probably want the situation with the pollution and the environment to drastically improve.
