A pursuit by Polk County, NC Sheriff office across the NC/SC state line was reported as resulting in a fatal crash and death of Wayne K. Smith, Jr. Polk County Sheriff Timothy Wright stated, that the vehicle nor the officer was equipped with dash or body cam. However, documents show that the Polk County Sheriff department were granted the equipment in 2015. We demand that the cams be released to the family and the publicly immediately.
