Keep Bird Habitat Intact: Urge the USDA to Uphold the Roadless Rule

Your voice is urgently needed to help conserve some of America's most pristine bird habitat within National Forest Roadless Areas. For 25 years, the Roadless Area Conservation Rule has supported conservation and restoration of these natural landscapes, providing essential habitat for birds and other wildlife.

Now, the USDA has proposed overturning this effective policy.

Roadless Areas provide the quiet, unfragmented interior forests that many bird species need, including the Kentucky Warbler, Louisiana Waterthrush, and Ovenbird, as well as threatened species across the West such as the Marbled Murrelet, Northern Spotted Owl, and Western Yellow-billed Cuckoo.

Approximately 25% of animal species and 13% of plant species categorized as Endangered in the U.S. have habitat within roadless areas. These public lands also provide clean drinking water for millions of people and offer backcountry recreation opportunities.
