Tell Cuomo to Fund Real Green Solutions, Not Dangerous Nuclear Energy

On April 1, Governor Cuomo pulled off a deal to bail out Exelon, America's largest nuclear producer, with $7.6 billion of our money. In just the first month, New Yorkers hav sent $40 million dollars out of state to maintain old, unprofitable nuclear power plants that are costly, dangerous and bad for our health and environment.

That sum alone could have have been to install of solar power on 2,400 roofs, weatherize 6,185 homes, or send 14.4 million New York City residents to work on public transit.

Gov. Cuomo says the bailout is about preserving jobs and fighting climate change. But we know better. New York's clean energy future lies with energy efficiency, smarter grids, solar and wind. These truly green solutions cost less, provide more jobs and result in healthier communities.

Tell our governor to scrap this dangerous, misguided plan and instead invest in an affordable, truly renewable energy plan for New York’s green economy future.
