This petition demands that all American soldiers in Iraq be returned to their loved ones by the end of 2005.
Whereas our sons and daughters are dying in Iraq in a civil war unleashed by the toppling of Saddam Hussein;
Whereas the presence of US troops in Iraq serves to inflame regional tensions, anti-American sentiments, and is a hindrence to the war on terror;
Whereas the invasion of Iraq was an unprovoked action against a dictator with whom our government had allied itself in the recent past;
Whereas images of civilian casualties are inflaming anti-American passions throughout the Muslim world, and increasing the threat of terrorist attacks on American soil;
Whereas the war in Iraq is a diversion of precious resources from the necessary stabilization of Afghanistan after our just war against the Taliban and Al Qaeda in that country;
And whereas the attack on Iraq was based on lies which falsely linked Saddam Hussein with the attack on America on 9/11/2001:
We the undersigned demand that our sons and daughters in the US military be withdrawn from Iraq by the end of this Year of Our Lord 2005, and be granted all necessary financial and medical services for re-adjustment to daily life, immediately and expeditiously, upon return to stateside.
