Congress is coming back in September, and they now have
less than two months left to pass meaningful legislation on global warming before year's end.
We cannot afford for politicians to be wishy-washy on this issue. Scientists agree that we must act now in order to stop the terrible consequences of global warming.
Congress has three very important tasks for this session:
- House and Senate leaders must continue to focus on global warming and keep the pressure on committee leaders to produce effective legislation,
- Committee leaders must draft and mark up effective global warming legislation to send to the floor of both Houses of Congress for a vote, and
- Both Houses of Congress must pass effective global warming legislation before the end of the 2007 legislative session.
