Catastrophic megafires are becoming the norm in America. Over 9 million acres have already burned across the U.S. in 2026, and that number continues to grow. Fires reach neighborhoods, destroy our homes and businesses, and fill the skies with toxic smoke across our country.
Wildfires are also a national security threat. They endanger military readiness, critical defense infrastructure, and divert National Guard and Reserve forces we depend on at home and abroad.
The Fix Our Forests Act will:
Join the effort to end the megafire crisis by sending a letter to your lawmakers urging them to support the Fix Our Forests Act.

- Give communities the tools and resources they need to reduce wildfire risk and make their homes more resilient

As your constituent, I urge you to take bipartisan action to combat the megafire crisis. Support the inclusion of the Fix Our Forests Act (FOFA) as an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

Wildfires are also a threat to our military readiness. The Defense Department has had to support federal wildfire response in 23 of the last 25 years, pulling National Guard and Reserve forces away from their missions at home and abroad. At the same time, a growing share of U.S. military installations face high wildfire hazard exposure.
We cannot tackle 21st-century megafires with 20th-century tools. Without reform, the residents of [advocate state] remain dangerously unprepared and unprotected.
The Fix Our Forests Act offers Congress an immediate opportunity to address the nation's growing wildfire crisis through modern, science-driven wildfire management. The Fix Our Forests Act would cut the red tape hampering wildfire resilience and allow the federal government to adopt cutting-edge tech to tackle modern blazes.
This is the most consequential piece of federal wildfire legislation in a generation. It already has the support of governors, state forestry agencies, community leaders, conservation organizations, and bipartisan members of Congress. You and your colleagues now have the opportunity to include the FOFA as an amendment to the FY2027 NDAA.
