Legalize Same Sex Marriage in North Carolina!

The North Carolina Senate has just voted to approve a constitutional amendment that plans to ban any legal recognition for same-sex couples. This amendment does more than target the institution of marriage, it attempts to ban civil unions as well. Under this amendment, marriage will be defined as "the union of one man and one woman at a time" and will be the only legal relationship recognized by the state.
This is simply outrageous. Same-sex marriage is already illegal in North Carolina and this amendment will make it even tougher for equality within the institution of marriage to happen in the future. It is saddening that North Carolina Senators are attempting to pass this amendment in our Constitution, a document that claims that we are all created equally.
This amendment will be on the ballot during the Republican presidential primary. You cannot let this discriminatory piece of legislation pass. Urge your Senator to repeal this amendment and help take strides for equality.
Dear Appointed Senator,
The institution of marriage should be open to all citizens of the United States, regardless of their sexual orientation. It is unfair and unjust to deny citizens basic rights simply because of their sexuality. The government should not be able to subjectively dictate who can get married and who cannot. You must not let the constitutional amendment proposed by the North Carolina Senate pass.
This amendment will ban legal relationship recognition for same sex couples. This is a terrible setback for North Carolina and the United States as a whole. We live in a world where the United States is revered for the freedom given to its citizens. This amendment goes against everything the country stands for and discriminates against those who are simply looking for a way to express their love.
