Stop Trashing Our Oceans!

Cujo, a male California sea lion, was found with a packing strap wrapped tightly around his neck and deeply embedded in his skin. Fortunately, Cujo was helped by The Marine Mammal Center and released back to his home. Many other marine animals aren't as lucky: a run-in with ocean trash can be fatal.

To save seals, turtles, birds and other marine animals we must take action to reduce ocean trash. For example, you can:
- Cut up plastic six-pack rings, ribbons and packing straps before disposing of them appropriately.
- Carry a re-useable water bottle and canvas bag for shopping.
- Reduce the plastics you buy (it takes 450 years for a plastic bottle to decompose!)
- Reduce the toxins you use in your yard and put down your sink, since they can end up in waterways.

Every year, ocean trash kills more than 1 million seabirds and 100,000 marine mammals and turtles when they ingest or become entangled in it. Pledge to do your part to reduce ocean trash and save marine life.
