Ask John Kerry to Create a Department of Peace
This petition is requesting Senator Kerry, the Democratic Party Presidential Nominee, to create a Department of Peace (DOP).
Having witnessed war first hand, Kerry should be inclined to listen.
Furthermore, we understand the Dalai Lama has endorsed the idea of a DOP and has agreed to appear in the United States to support a DOP.
Petition to Senator John Kerry
We, the undersigned voters and groups, petition Senator John Kerry to incorporate the following position into your campaign platform: The creation of a Department of Peace within the United States Government to promote peaceful resolution of conflicts at home and abroad and to seek out new and innovative means of living peacefully with one another on this planet.
A Department of Peace has been endorsed by the Dalai Lama, Congressman Dennis Kucinich and other prominent individuals in the United States and around the world. A Department of Peace would offer an inexpensive means for our government to seek and promote peaceful resolution to conflicts around the globe and here at home and often avoid costly wars or military intervention.
As a man that has seen the terrible human toll of armed conflict first hand, we believe you would make an excellent addition to the list of prominent men and women that have endorsed this proactive approach to creating a more peaceful future for our children and grandchildren. Please give this proposal the study and consideration it deserves and make a peaceful future a part of your campaigns platform as you work to unseat President Bush. Thank you.
