France recently banned the shredding of baby male chicks who aren't considered "useful" as egg-laying hens. It's huge progress for millions of severely abused birds.
But in the USA, the United Egg Producers – the corporate trade group, who represents 95 percent of all hatcheries – refused to follow France's lead.
They recently told the Washington Post: "A workable, scalable solution is not yet available."
That's unacceptable. If France can do it, we can do it too! But we need your petition signature to end this barbaric practice:
- Live baby birds, up to 3 days old, are thrown away into massive blenders
- Some are even suffocated in bags while fully conscious
- Male chicks are considered "waste" just because they can't lay eggs for profit
Let's be clear: baby male chicks aren't waste. They deserve humane treatment and loving care!
