Paul Hargrove gave over 30 years to the education of students as coach, teacher, principal and mentor. He started the football program at East Limestone. The players did not even know how to put on a football uniform. He spent many hours on the new football stadium. Paul and the players picked up rocks so there could be a smooth playing field. He had to mow the grass and wash the uniforms. All of this was when they had "cotton picking" break and the players worked in the fields and then came to practice. In 1961 East went undefeated and held that record until a few years ago and Coach Jeff Pugh's team went undefeated and broke the record. Even after retirement, Paul continued to go to practice and to the ball games. As principal he was always there. He got to see his son, Deon Hargrove, and his grandson, Warren McNeill, play football at East. He was so proud when East finally got their new field house. To have his name on either the stadium or field house would be an honor well-deserved for Paul Hargrove. Paul died in August of 2019 and never got to see his name at his beloved East Limestone. His dedication and hard work for East Limestone needs to be remembered.
