Farmers — the stewards of America’s heartland; the men and women who dedicate their lives to produce food for the United States — are in serious risk. And those of us who depend on them for sustenance face the same threat.

In the coming decades, temperatures across the country are projected to increase. And that’s on top of what was just the hottest ten-year span on record — providing a major blow to our agriculture community.

According to the National Climate Assessment, agricultural production will severely suffer from “stresses due to extreme heat, drought, disease, and heavy downpours...a trend that could diminish the security of our food supply.”

America has always taken pride in our ability to be able to call ourselves the land of plenty and opportunity. But the truth is that the very land our farmers so delicately and diligently cultivate is in danger.
