Let Researchers Tell the Truth About Oilsands!

In 2010, oilsands studies revealed that oilsands had affected the precipitation in Canada. Contaminants from the oilsands spread and appeared in snow surrounding the area, and possibly have already hurt fish.
You probably won't hear about it, though.
Researchers from Environment Canada were told to zip lip and only follow a script to avoid stirring up controversy about oilsands. Back in 2011, they said that there was no link between contaminant levels and negative impacts on fish in nearby Athabasca River - but that was the script talking, not the truth.
To other lines of questioning, scientists were advised to say nothing beyond "I am a scientist. I'm not in a position to answer that, but I'd be happy to refer you to an appropriate spokesperson."
These scientists are qualified to speak on this topic. Tell Environment Minister Peter Kent to let researchers speak out about oilsands contamination!

During the winter of 2010 - 2011, Environment Canada researchers concurred that a previous report about oilsands contamination by University of Alberta was true. However, the way these researchers were advised to purposefully not reveal these findings to the public leaves much to be desired.
[Your comments here]The public deserves to know what affects oilsands have on our environment straight from the mouths of researchers. I urge you to not advise EC to be facetious about vital findings in the future.
