Recently the Alien Tort Claims Act of America has been used to protect workers in foreign countries from human rights abuses by multinational corporations.
This act requires multinational companies with a substantial presence in the U.S. to obey U.S. laws everywhere in the world especially as it pertains to human rights.
Through using the Alien Tort Claims Act foreigners who's human rights have been abused can now sue in U.S. courts to request just and fair treatment as a human being by multinational corporations, etc...... failure to respect human rights as pertains to forced labor, slavery and torture is defined as a violation of the law of nations.
This is a major step forward for reforming human rights abuses as it pertains to multinational corporations and their foreign activities.
This petition simply wants to send a message to the U.S. Congressmen and women and various human rights and labor groups that we the undersigned support the Alien Tort Claims Act and it's use to improve human rights globally.
