Every day across the world children are born into extreme poverty. Many will die in their early years, whilst others will be damaged physically and mentally as a result of malnutrician. This is a crisis of global proportions and demands immediate action at the highest levels of world government.
Whilst many countries are generous in their support for the poor either through government aid programmes or charities, the aim of this petition is to encourage each and every nation to accept in principle the idea that every child under the age of 16 years should expect at least one square meal-a-day as of right NOT as charity. That no child should be born to expect an early death due to hunger or thirst and that no child should be malnurished.
We, the petitioners, call upon the Secretary General of the United Nations and the leaders of world government to do all that they can to bring about the aim of providing every child under 16 with one square meal every day of his or her life.
