Coming soon to your neighborhood – The construction of a four-story 92-room hotel at 1033 Abbot Kinney Boulevard spanning nearly the entire block between Westminster and Broadway.
= Joe’s and Primitivo are allowed to stay but other existing vintage structures will be demolished and replaced with a 3-4 story massive building.
The Baptist Church at 1041 AKB and the building at 1043 AKB are not included in this project as they are not owned by the developer.
This proposal is a game changer. In order for this to happen, the project needs to get an exception from the Venice Specific Plan regarding its height. This would create a precedent for towering four-story structures stretching the length of Abbot Kinney. Other negative effects for the surrounding community include: increased traffic, lack of parking, more noise and trash. This might be suitable for another location, but it is not appropriate for Abbot Kinney as we know it.
Stop this massive project and preserve the unique character of Abbot Kinney Boulevard:
