Permit Artificial Turf for front yard in Broadview Shores HOA

The Thompson Family asks for your help so that we can keep our installation of artificial turf as per notice from the Broadview Shores HOA. Our request is for our HOA to amend its landscaping guidelines to allow the option of professionally installing synthetic turf in front yards in our community.  As per the state of Utah's website: "Utah is experiencing one of the worst droughts on record...Extreme drought calls for extreme water-saving measures by all individuals, businesses, institutions and industries." They even provide fliers and lawn signs to help spread the word about the extreme drought that say things like "Yellow is the New Green". The City of Provo offers a rebate for removing grass and installing low-water use landscaping from curb strips. Despite this, our HOA has refused to update its prohibition against installation of artificial turf in front yards and curb strips. In fact, the HOA is currently demanding that 2 of our homeowners rip out professionally-installed artificial turf. Artificial turf is not only good for the environment, but it's an improvement over dead grass in property value and in aesthetics. It's comfortable for kids and pets that want to sit and roll around outside, and it requires no fertilizers or insecticides, making its runoff cleaner for the neighborhood. There are many natural-looking types of artificial grass available on the market which now mimic layers of dead blades of grass above the soil just as normal grass. If you'd like to see it, come take a roll on the Thompson's front lawn - we're in 1358 on 3300.

We are especially interested in signatures from residents of Broadview Shores, so please indicate your address if you are in support so that we can show the HOA that its own members support this change. And hopefully they'll finally approve our plan so that we can proceed with the rest of our front yard plan, including flowers and rocks in garden and park strips.
