We the undersigned believe that the proposed means test for the private health insurance rebate is good for Australians.
The means test will only impact on Australians earning significantly the national average and will generate $2.4 billion in savings to the government over three years.
The aim of the means test is to create a fairer system for all Australians. Low and average income earners who choose to purchase private health insurance will still be subsidised, and many high income earners will continue to be partially subsidised. The means test will simply ensure that Australians who do not need the rebate do not receive it.
In the interests of equality, please consider supporting the means test.
