All 4 Kayla

     On June 30, 2008, in an opinion rendered by Referee Gregory Toler of the Macomb County Circuit Court, it was recommended that my ex, Michelle Daigle, formerly Michelle Myers, retain custody of our daughter Kayla. Michelle has not worked since she was a teenager (she's now 33 and has three kids) and she only married the other two kids' father two weeks before he died of a brain tumor so that she could collect Social Security and continue NOT working. Prior to that, the two bilked the State of Michigan out of every dime they could through Food Stamps, General Assistance, Medicaid, you name it. Michelle has attended Baker College free of charge on grant after grant with no intention of EVER getting a job. She has claimed to the Court (FOR 6 YEARS NOW) that she's going to be a teacher yet she repeatedly sends Kayla to school with her homework unfinished. Kayla's grades along with her teachers' comments reflect this. I ask you: Is this the kind of person you would want teaching your child? 
    
     Kayla's at a critical time in her life. She is about to start high school this fall. From here forward, every grade she receives will affect her chances of being accepted into college. Although I encourage Kayla to make her own choices, if she remains in the custody of her mother, this choice will not even be an option for her.

     Kayla, for her own part,  has even indicated to the Court that she wants to live with me.

     Please help me send a message to the judge in my case as well as the Michigan legislature that it's time to review custody laws in Michigan and make some changes so that the "best interests of the child(ren)" are really determined and that this gender bias be done away with.
