BAHAMAS PUBLIC WASTE SITE, Does 2009 mean anything!

How many grants and funds were given to the Bahamas Government to address the problem at the BPW site from internal chemical fires, toxic smoke and smog, and the unsightly view of daily dumping from the North and West view. You now have a number of subdivisions and communities held hostage to the lack of proper waste management of this government run and operated site. Our concern must be for the residents, the infants and the hundreds of students to the north and west of this site who play and live in the immediate area and are exposed almost 24 hours a day to this treatable problem.
Do you know why fire fighters wear an oxygen mask when fighting fires, because of the low level of oxygen, poisonous toxins, smoke and a number of other dangers that could compromise the health of human lungs under extended exposure. They equip themselves and they are only exposed for several minutes to maybe as much a a few hours at which they rotate men in and out until it's controlled.  Now imagine the families and kids that reside in these communities day in and day out without clean air. Come on officials for the love of doing what's right if you can't do it for your people and nation, get off your proud, pompous, arrogant butts and do something now and complete what you should have done 20 years ago. THE YEAR IS NOW 2009!
It's bad enough that you have to launch campaigns educating the public on care of the environment and the surroundings "Keep the Bahamas Clean, Green and Pristine", but even worst when you have the ministry of health, a government department not complying with it's own promo -"simply disgusting"
Someone has got to be wise enough to realize that prevention is easier and far better than seeking a cure.
The leaders (past and present) of our nation have affirmed that they are no longer in love with us the Bahamian people and are driven to politics for personal gains and this we all know. Truth be told, we too are tired of their tricks, tips and talks while they setup series of day light robberies sharing the spoils of our land among themselves and strangers from other lands.

My people, least we encourage and give our guaranteed voting support to competent business and socially minded individuals on an independent ticket, instead of supporting the contaminated politicking regulars, our country will suffer a certain death much sooner than we think. Refuse to be entertained by rally performances, tit for tat political slander, music, jokes, appliances, drinks and clothing. These distractions are all short lived in comparison to what follows: no jobs while a select few makes millions, ridiculous water quality or no water at all, high electrical bills or no electricity at all, high food costs with no import food regulators/administration, low quality of education.
Why should we get excited in 2009 and vote for a government at their promise to build roads, hospitals, schools, buy boats for boarder control and protection, health and care for the seniors -These are all basic needs for all developing countries and should have been done a long time ago. Crying shame on any party who uses these tact's in 2009 as voting leverage.
LETS START WITH THE PUBLIC DUMP SITE - LETS LOBBY FOR THE INSTALLATION OF THE PROPOSED WASTE TREATMENT EQUIPMENT AND REQUEST FOR DUMPING OUT OF EYE VIEW OF RESIDENTS (NORTH & WEST SIDE OF THE SITE) AND GREEN THOSE EXPOSED VIEWS OVER WITH SOD.
We are without a choice, either they put up or get out. I do think that we are done with promises and done being told what to do! - Our Bahamas, One Nation Under God with Love and Unity!

I invite you to send me your opinion and would post the views so you can see how many people are fed up and are like mind to see a clean-up from the head down! This cry goes out to the Bahamas in the North to The Bahamas in the South
PS.Lets stand with our Abaco family in their concern against BEC's proposal to install a bunker C fuel plant there. --This is what our government thinks of us in 2009! (The rest of the world is saying go green). Bahamian's if they don't do what we say today, then we "must" do what we need to do tomorrow!
