Communal Abuse
When abuse in the home is ignored those who experience and perpetrate the abuse venture eventually venture outside of the home. These people then due to not receiving care or seeking it perpetrate abuse on others continuing a cycle of abuse that does not end. We ask that Communal Abuse be recognized like any other form of abuse (physical, emotional/psychological and economic) and steps be taken to address this abuse that is usually perpetrated on people in institutions by those in authority. Not unlike domestic abuse many of the victims of Communal Abuse are women, children, the elderly and others who appear to be or who are vulnerable to being ill treated to include victimized by a person with a title or given specific authority (clergy to include Muslim Imams, Presidents of Clubs, Chairpeople of Committees, etc).
We ask you to sign this petition that will be given to leaders in religious communities, elected officials, committee chairs of organizations and others in authority in the public and private sector. In hopes they will recognize this situation and begin to address it as we do domestic abuse in the home.
