CREATING JOBS TO RESTORE THE AMERICAN DREAM

The current unemployment rate is 8.5 % and 13,100,000 people are currently unemployed; that the current unemployment rate for our veterans is 11.5 %; that 5,600,000 people have been unemployed longer than 27 weeks; that the mean time for the unemployed to find a new job is 39.7 weeks and the median time is 22 weeks;  that 945,000 workers are so discouraged that they have given up looking for employment; that 8,100,000 people have been forced to take part-time employment due to a lack of full time jobs; that 11% of the unemployed have been looking for work for two years or longer, and Congress is taking no action to remedy this situation.
Rep. Janice Schakowsky of Illinois has introduced a bill in the House of Representatives (HR 2914) that would create over two million jobs and benefit our country.  The bill would begin repairs on school buildings, hire teachers and teachers aides, support community policing and hire police and firefighters, supplement employment at long term care facilities, and restore our nation's lands.  This bill is currently stuck in Committee and there is no companion bill in the Senate. 
Tell Speaker Boehner to expedite this bill and bring it to the House floor for a vote.  Tell your Senators to introduce a companion bill in the Senate and bring it to a vote as soon as possible.
Lets get the country back to work and improve the lives of our citizens and begin the job of rebuilding important infrastructure.
