End San Joaquin Valley's drinking water crisis!

  • van: Community Water Center
  • ontvanger: Governor Schwarzenegger and San Joaquin Valley Congressional representatives

Communities across the San Joaquin Valley lack clean, safe drinking water - in their homes, schools, and where they work. Residents in small, low-income, predominately Latino towns regularly receive drinking water with nitrate, arsenic and other contaminants over legal health limits and struggle with old, dilapidated pipes. They are forced to spend extra money on alternative drinking water supplies so they can have safe water.

State and federal funding to help upgrade old infrastructure, install treatment systems, or connect to a new water source, continues to bypass the communities that need it most. Help us demand emergency funding for those who lack clean, safe drinking water!

Take Action and help us find permanent, affordable and sustainable solutions for communities without safe drinking water by signing our petition today!

We, the undersigned call upon you to put an end to the drinking water crisis in the San Joaquin Valley Now!

As you know, many local valley communities lack safe drinking water - in their homes, schools, and where they work.  In some cases, more than a decade has passed without solutions, while state and funds for critical drinking water projects remain frozen or continue to pass us by.

You can help us ensure that no community has to go another day without access to safe water. In honor of National Drinking Water Week, we ask you to take immediate action:

  • Provide emergency money to systems in low-income communities with chronic violations so families can have access to safe drinking water now!
  • Release pending grant funds that provide solutions for communities without access to safe drinking water now!
  • Unfreeze and direct grant funding to identify permanent, affordable and sustainable solutions for small, low-income communities without safe drinking water.

Please act now to ensure that every man, woman and child has access to our human right to safe, clean and affordable drinking water.
