Guarantee the safety of Activists listed as Military Targets

This is an online petition that expresses concern and aims to guarantee the safety of Journalists, Nuns/Priests, Doctors, and Activists in a recently leaked "Order of Battle" list by the Military.

An "order of battle" is a list of persons the Philippine military claims to be combatants or supporters of the CPP and NPA. A number of political activists who have appeared on such lists are among those who have been killed in the Philippines, allegedly by military and paramilitary units

A Document titled "JCICC 'Agila' 3rd QTR 2007 OB Validation Result," marked "SECRET" and allegedly prepared by the intelligence arm of the Philippine Army's 10th Infantry Division includes Journalists, Nuns/Priests, Doctors, Lawyers, and other Professionals.

This "Order of Battle" list is another addition to the Philippine's already bloody history of Human Rights abuses. Since 2001, over one thousand political activists and more than 40 journalists have been summarily executed. These killings have already been the subject of concern by The United Nations and other Human Rights Groups.

Here are the links to further enlighten you regarding the Military's "Order of Battle". The 1st link is the document itself titled "JCICC 'Agila' 3rd QTR 2007 OB Validation Result". The 2nd one is an article from www.pinoypress.net.

Part of a letter drafted by the Asian Human Rights Commission(AHRC):
"In fact, one of those mentioned in this document, Celso Pojas, a peasant activist, was killed on the 15th May 2008. The concern of those mentioned in this list is rooted not only from Pojas's murder but also from previous incidents, wherein subsequent killings have taken place after the release of a document. For instance, the other power-point presentation document entitled "Knowing the Enemy" in early 2000s, which mentions the names of organizations being targeted and accused of colluding with the communist.

As it is in the past, those who had been killed in recent years are human rights and political activists who are attached to the organization mentioned in the "Knowing the Enemy" presentation."

Naturally, the Military denies the existence of such document nor that it originated from them. There has been no credible investigation from the Governments side to verify whether the military's claims are true or not.

Please, sign this petition and help protect the lives of innocent people who only seek to make the country better for you and me. If we are all silenced and made to live a life in closed doors, without the capacity to voice our concerns, then we have lost our Freedom.
We the undersigned politely request that the said "Order of Battle" list be investigated in an unbiased manner, and that those mentioned in the list along with their family members be guaranteed their safety.

We thank the Armed Forces of the Philippines and President Arroyo for taking time to read this letter.
