Literacy & Creative Writing In Canadian Schools

I wanted to put together a petition to try to get Creative writing courses not as options to students, but as mandatory courses in Canada.  It would improve the overall understanding of our nations languages both written and spoken.  The literacy rate is not bad at 99% but at the same time that just means that there are adults that would be able to read a Toronto Star newspaper and understand it.  We also have to plug our Arts sectors not only with funding but with education.  I think there would be a lower drop out rate if the kids in schools had the opportunity to put their creative minds to work in a mandatory creative writing course in high schools and also concentrate more on creative writing in the latter years of Elementary schooling.  This petition is to promote literacy and also to give the school age kids the opportunity to put their minds truely to work in a creative capacity.  I hope you will join me and sign my petition.
