This petition simply makes the statement and attempts to clarify that homosexual marriages performed in Christian churches are not consistent with Christian theology and seeks to clarify that any Christian churches involved in performing homosexual marriages may be in serious transgression against biblical principles and the sanctity of the Christian church who's duty it is to show compassion and love for homosexuals but not to forsake core Christian beliefs in doing so. 

Homosexual acts are defined in the bible of Christianity as an abomination before God.

Because the sexual acts of homosexuality are believed to be an offense to God.

HIV/AIDS and various venereal diseases primarily strike homosexuals/intravenous drug users and  people who are unfaithful to their wives and husbands....these are the high risk groups and these high risk populations are believed to be the demographic groups where these infections originated.

This does not seem to be just some random coincidence.

This appears to be a strong warning from God of the wrath that is here and of the potential wrath that is to come.....not from man but from God.....yet at the same time we should keep in mind that the bible clearly states that vengeance and judgement belongs to God and not to man.

This tells us that people with a homosexual nature are not to be mistreated or hated and that violence against them is not acceptable, simply that the idea of homosexual marriage/acts are not something that should be endorsed or performed by Christians or in Christian churches as a legitimate form of marriage.

Heterosexual marriage is universally accepted by most major religious groups comprised of billions of people worldwide to be the norm and appropriate definition of what marriage is. 

At the same time, harsh laws and punishment against homosexuals or homosexual acts are also wrong and should not be advocated.

Milions of people around the world, heterosexual and homosexual, live celibate lifestyles and find this type of living enjoyable and fullfilling.

This may be an option that some may wish to consider.

Becoming celibate also reduces your risk of contracting and spreading/infecting and possibly killing others with HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis and other sexually transmitted diseases to near 0%, surely this is a good thing.

Gay men and women are free to live together and maintain gay platonic and sexual relationships in America and other modern countries around the world with little interference from government etc. and hopefully various gay groups can and will keep in mind that although we in the U.S. and other countries can work to educate people against hatred and bigotry we cannot legislate compassion, understanding or acceptance.

There seems to be a legitimate argument for gay civil unions for the purpose of civil and economic rights etc. yet gay marriage sanctified and performed by Christian churches does not seem to be appropriate and offends and judges the beliefs and faith of 1.2 billion Catholics around the world and other Christians who believe marriage between a man and a women to be sacred institution or a sacred rite.

Any government mandate requiring the Catholic church or other Christian churches to perform gay marriages would be a mistake and wrong.

There are a great many offenses being committed against homosexuals in various countries around the world right now and these harsh punishment and laws should be repealed and condemned, the following countries punish homosexual acts among consenting adults with the death penalty:

Mauritania-death penalty/imprisonment
Nigeria-death penalty/imprisonment (particuliarly in Islamic/Sharia areas)
Saudi Arabia-death penalty/imprisonment
United Arab Emirates-death penalty/ imprisonment
Yemen-death penalty/imprisonment
Iran-death penalty/imprisonment

There are also many other countries worldwide which have and enforce harsh laws concerning homosexual acts which dictate long prison terms for homosexual offenses, most of these countries tend to be Muslim and enforce these laws through the Sharia law and courts system. 

These harsh laws and punishments are also not right and send many gay men and women to their deaths and subject them to assault, rape and death in poorly regulated prison systems where inmates and even gaurds with a criminal mindset prey on and abuse homosexuals at will, exposing them to torture, deadly diseases and intense suffering.

There have been several studies suggesting that homosexuality has a genetic basis and that this DNA maladaptation makes the female relatives of gay men who share their DNA more fertile.
 
Studies have shown a corrolation between this increased fertility or number of offspring by these women to be directly related to the "gay" gene these women share with their male relatives who are gay so this suggests a evolutionary advantage to women who carry this gene, the advantage is they produce more offspring and the unfortunate side effect is that a small percentage of their male offspring will be gay because of this same gene.

Their is believed to be a similiar genetic maldaption working in gay women since the population of gay women in relation to the total population is similiar to that of gay men.

The percentage men and women who are gay is estimated by various studies to be about 1% or 2% of the total population, this figure seems to be pretty consistent around the world.

Those involved in debates concerning homosexuality should make an effort to differentiate between homosexuality that appears to be simply decadent and experimental and homosexuality that appears to be genetic or from birth because there seems to be a great deal of confusion concerning this matter.

Hopefully further research involvong genetics will clarify these points and make these issues less confusing.

Leviticus 18:22   "Thou shall not lie with mankind as with womankind: it is an abomination."

Leviticus 20:13   "If a man also lies with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination"

Deuteronomy 22:5   "The woman shall not wear that which pertains unto a man, neither shall a man put on women's garments: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God."

1 Kings 14:24   "And there were also Sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the Lord cast out before the children of Israel."

Jude 1:7   "Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set fourth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire."

1 Corinthians 6:9   "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the Kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolators, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the Kingdom of God.  And such were some of you, but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God."

Romans 1:21  "Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,  And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.  Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:  Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.  For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:  And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.  And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;  Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,  Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,  Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:  Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them."
 
Surely these inspired words of God seem to quite clearly illustrate God's opposition to homosexual acts.

Yet at the same time we should show compassion and love to those who are homosexual or have a homosexual nature/orientation.

God is love.
