Protect A Child's Growth

Growing children need sleep - sleep that isn't cut short by loud airplanes flying over head. Bloor West Village is one of the most highly family populated communities and it deserves better.

Not only is Bloor West Village a strong active community supporting and working alongside the GreenTbiz "thinking green & saving green" , it is also a very soft and sweet community, one of the few in Toronto, Ontario.

Researchers have shown that children's brains until the age of 21 are a work in progress and require certain hours of sleep to grow healthy mind and body . It is also theorized that a lack of sleep during formative years can set back your child's cognitive abilities.

Tell Ontario's Premier: A child's sleep is important! Reroute the planes that are closely circling over the Bloor West Village and put them over an area that isn't so family oriented before the kids lose out in the long run.
We the undersigned believe in protecting a child's growing process by keeping loud airplanes out of Bloor West Village, and letting a child sleep.

Many Couples come to the Bloor West Village to start families or to reroute families. It is known to be a highly developed community. The streets are safe and in result children are at every corner.

With children, come great responsibilities and the parents of Bloor west Village show with their choice of lifestyle and location that their children's futures are of number one importance. However,  a parent can only do so much to protect a child's future when sleep deprivation is in the picture.

Researchers say a child is required to obtain a certain amount of sleep. For instance it states on babycenter.com a 3 year old is meant to have 10 1/2 hrs a night and 1 1/2 during the day,  but how is such a thing possible when there are planes circling above their beds causing noise from approximately 6am to 2am daily - that is roughly 12hrs of continuous disturbance. Where in those 12 hours does a child get a peaceful uninterrupted sleep?

Scientists have theorized that children's brains until the age of 21 are a work in progress and require certain hours of sleep to grow healthy mind and body . It is also theorized that a lack of sleep during formative years can set back a child's cognitive abilities. Even an hour less than recommended can result in such things as moodiness, depression ,etc.

Since this community is one of the safest and sweetest places to live in Toronto, let's make it one of the healthiest.  Let's help the youth get more sleep so they can achieve more when they wake up.

It is crucial for this baby filled community to have quiet skies so children can dream and grow.
