Put a Fist to the Palm!
Palm Oil is a seed crop grown in many parts of the world, the majority being in Malaysia and Indonesia. Orangutans are found exclusively on the Indonesian islands. Palm Oil can be found in many food and non-food industries, including but not limited to, cookies, crackers, popcorn, frozen dinners, low-fat dairy, candy, soap and cosmetics.
The biggest threat to orangutans in the wild is from illegal logging of trees. The demand for palm oil is high and as a result these plantations are destroying the orangutan’s natural habitat, pushing them out of the forest or trapping them into small patches of forest with no where else to go.
When you sign this petition, you are pledging to look at labels for palm oil and stop supporting it by not buying products that use it. Palm oil isn't found in plenty of good things, so it doesn't mean you have to give up any of the things you are used to, but perhaps just find palm-free versions of it.
Please don't support palm oil so that the ever-so-beautiful jungles of these Asian countries and the place these orangutans called home can be saved.
