Removal of "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close" from the list of Best Picture Nominees

The film "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close" starring Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock, and Max Von Sydow was recently released to over two thousand movie theaters across the country.

On Tuesday, January 24, 2012, this film became one of nine films to be nominated for Best Picture for the upcoming Academy Awards Ceremony scheduled to take place on Sunday, February 26, 2012.

The film itself follows a young boy whose father perished in the World Trade Center attacks on 9/11 through his quest to uncover a mystery behind a key found in his father's possession.

Unfortunately, many film critics have become offended by the way this film uses the events of 9/11 as a device used to elicit an emotional response from its viewers.  This is considered by moviegoers and critics to be morally repugnant, and ultimately offensive.  Therefore, we wish for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to remove this film from contention in the category of "Best Picture"
