Save Honey!!!
My poor dog Honey of 6 years. She is the nicest, gentlest, if not overly-friendly dog in the whole neighborhood. About a month ago she bit another dog. The dog was a small poodle who was basically the neighborhood bully. It pooped on other people's lawns and the walker never picked it up. The small dog would just bark at whatever animal is barking at it in the window and taunt them by peeing in various places on the lawn. While opening the door to let a house guest in, she saw between my grandma's legs the dog. She recognizes it as the one who doe its business on the lawn frequently and went out after it. She bit it, penetrating skin, but wasn't severely wounded or needed surgery. Honey was just protecting her territory. We apologized and explained it was an accident but they wouldn't listen. Animal Control declared her vicious and are coming to take her away and more than likely kill her. Please help!
***UPDATE***
So Animal Control is trying to push our family into giving the dog euthanasia. We asked the vet about it and explained the situation and he was horrified. He said he didn't feel comfortable killing a healthy dog that he knows is anything but vicious. So he said to keep the dog and unless the neighborhood committee says we can't keep her, then he'll do it. My mom has decided to attempt to keep the dog, but one of the Boards members of the neighborhood is the owner's husband of the dog that Honey bit. Please keep signing!
******UPDATE*******
Thank you so much for signing guys, but it's too late now. That woman got what she wanted and Honey is being euthanized at 4:30pm today. That woman even had the gall of writing to us saying "thankfully Casper was not seriously injured or bitten on the neck or it could have been much worse. My brother had a vicious dog and had to get rid of it. We syphasize with your situation." Yeah? Well if you really symphsized you wouldn't have complained. And really? No serious injuries and Honey is still being euthanized? She even sent us the bill for getting the dog's annual rabies shot and for grooming and trimming of the nails.
We the undersigned would like to request Honey the Labrador mix to not be killed and given back to the owner. The incident was an accident and could have happened to anyone. A family is in tears and sorrow because of this. Please understand this and reconsider your decision.
