- van: KH2 Ltd UK
- ontvanger: CARIBBEAN UTILITES COMPANY AND CI GOVERNMENT
The Proposal
WE propose that both the Government of the Cayman Islands and (Caribbean Utilities Company) action a mutual surrender of the agreement that allows the said company to act as the island's sole distributer of energy in the Cayman Islands and allow a solar energy company offer a viable alternative.
OR...
Caribbean Utilities Company could start developing a solar energy alternative for its subscribers, and move away from using fossil fuels (diesel) which is a contributing factor to rises in electricity bills which is pushing up the cost of living on the Cayman Islands.
Why Solar Energy?I
In the Cayman Islands we have the luxury of 24/7 sunshine this can be used as a viable and renewable power source, in comparison to diesel fuel which the price depends on how oil is traded on the open market which is always rising.
How this Impacts the Economy?
If CUC was to take on this project seriously this would allow for more jobs and revenue for the economy of the Cayman islands. When Caribbean Utilities Company sets up its Solar Network it would have the option to sell the solar energy to neighbouring countries bringing in more revenue for the company allowing CUC to give the people of the Cayman Islands a discount on their energy every month.
