Tell Yemeni President Saleh to Stop Killing Protesters

On October 18, seven pro-democracy protesters were killed and more than 50 wounded by government security forces in Yemen's capital Sana'a.

This was the fourth consecutive day in which security forces had killed unarmed protesters, bringing the death toll to 35.

For nine months, Yemenis have been taking to the streets to demand the ouster of President Saleh.  Over this time, hundreds of protesters have been killed.

According to The Guardian, Tuesday's march was disrupted when "plainclothed gunmen hiding in the trees of the al-Qa'a garden opened fire on the protesters with kalashnikov rifles."

Please call on President Saleh to stop killing the citizens of Yemen

We the undersigned ask that you refrain from shooting unarmed anti-government protesters.

October 18 marked the fourth consecutive day in which security forces loyal to your government had opened fire on crowds of civilians.  Since anti-government protests began, hundreds of civilians have been killed.  At least 35 have been killed in the last four days alone.

We demand that the execution of protesters cease immediately and that those responsible for the killings face criminal prosecution.

Thanks you for taking the time to read this letter.
