IFAW rescuers in India are fighting to save an elephant calf.

The frightened calf was fleeing floodwaters in Assam, India, when she ran across a highway and was hit by a car. She was later found alone in the forest.

"Dhara", as they've called her, sustained terrible injuries to her front leg from the accident. Our veterinary team at IFAW's Wildlife Rescue Center is working around-the-clock to save her.

The first few days for a rescued elephant calf are the most critical. The longer Dhara survives -- and the more she bonds with her caregivers and with other orphaned elephants at the Center -- the better her chances are.

THIS IS ACTUALLY HER
