Don’t give back guns to violent abusers

A 1994 federal law that has prevented tens of thousands of gun purchases by people under domestic violence restraining orders is now in front of the Supreme Court, and its future hangs in the balance.

This week, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments about the legality of the law, which makes it a crime for people under domestic violence restraining orders to have guns. The Supreme Court, with its 6-3 conservative majority, will decide in June whether the law is consistent with the Second Amendment.

We need to raise our voices and turn up the pressure. If this law is struck down, the consequences will be fatal for untold numbers of people. Studies show the presence of a gun increases the likelihood a domestic abuse incident will turn deadly.

So make your voice heard – add your name now to demand the Supreme Court uphold this law and ban people who are subject to a domestic violence restraining order from owning a gun >>
