The Florida legislature has just passed the dangerous "Don't Say Gay" bill and now it's up to Governor DeSantis whether or not the harrowing legislation becomes law, greatly endangering the lives of already marginalized youth. The bill could potentially allow an outright ban of discussions about LGBTQ+ issues in school, and would allow bigoted parents to sue schools that dissented if they felt they imposed on their "right to make decisions regarding the upbringing and control of their children."
Unfortunately, DeSantis has already voiced his support for the troubling policy – which is why we need as many people as possible demanding he put a stop to it.

The bill sends a dangerous message to LGBTQ+ youth, and advocates say that it could lead students to believe their identity is something to be ashamed of. The Republican sponsor of the bill, Rep. Joe Harding, alleges that the bill would "reinforce the fundamental right of parents," but what it really does is infringe on the rights of young LGBTQ+ people.
Conversations about the LGBTQ+ community are not taboo– to pass this bill would be a huge step backwards in the fight for equitable learning.
