Allow Chickens as Pets in Stonebridge Ranch

I am looking to change the covenants in the Stonebridge Ranch Home Owners Association to allow for a small number of hens to be kept on/in the residents backyard or homes.

The current covenants say that no animals, livestock or poultry of any kind shall be raised, bred or kept on any residentail Lot, except that a reasonable number of dogs, cats or other commonly recognized household pets may be kept, provided that they are not kept, bred or maintained for commercial purposes and they are not noxioous, offensive or dangerous.

This verbabge is misleading and I am looking to change that. Chickens can and are accepted widely as pets in our area and around the country. The brand Neiman Marcus sells chicken coops, local pets stores sell chicken supplies, Dallas leads a chicken coop tour and more importantly the City of McKinney allows homeowners to keep up to 13 hens.

Chickens are not noxious and are actually eaiser to keep than any dog. They make much less noise and actually have a decible rating of 65 which is the same as a human voice. They are a means of natural pest control eating mosquitoes, ticks, ants, flies and other unwanted pests. They give eggs of much higher quality than any eggs found in supermarkets and don't support the horrible conditions found in egg production facilities. Roosters are NOT required for a chicken to lay an egg. There are many misconceptions about keeping chickens and I urge my neighbors and friends to support me in changing the HOA's covenant to allow for backyard chickens.
